MADISON, Wis. (Civic Media) — Another hunt starts this weekend.  Wisconsin’s 2024 pheasant hunting season opens at 9 a.m.on Saturday.  It runs through Jan. 5.

The daily bag limit is one rooster for the opening weekend. That increases to two roosters starting Monday and remains that way for the remainder of the season.

The DNR plans to stock about 75,000 pheasants on over 80 properties statewide. Stocking occurs before the season opens and up to twice weekly for the first few weeks.

Hunters can use the DNR’s interactive tool to locate stocked properties and plan trips.

Some properties close at Noon on weekdays from Oct. 21 through Nov. 3. Hunters should verify shooting hours for their chosen locations.

The DNR statement emphasizes firearm safety. It urges hunters to treat every firearm as loaded, point muzzles safely, be certain of targets and surroundings, and to keep fingers outside trigger guards until ready to shoot.

The gun deer season runs Nov. 23 to Dec. 1, followed by muzzleloader season Dec. 2-11 and a four-day antlerless-only hunt Dec. 12-15.
