The 70th Assembly District covers Jackson County and parts of Monroe and Juneau counties in west-central Wisconsin.
By Jimmie Kaska, Civic Media StaffWISCONSIN (Civic Media) – Incumbent Republican Nancy VanderMeer has been called the winner of the race for the 70th Assembly District in Wisconsin.
The Associated Press made the call Tuesday evening.
The Republican Party was favored in this district going into the election, according to CNalysis. The district was considered very likely Republican with a projected margin of 20 points.
VanderMeer, who was first elected to the Assembly in 2014, serves on eight committees or councils. She is the Chair of the Committee on Transportation and co-chairs two other committees.
VanderMeer defeated Democratic challenger Remy Gomez, who is on the Monroe County Board of Supervisors.
