MADISON, Wis. (WMDX) – Much of Wisconsin had their coldest conditions of the season so far on Thursday morning.
In the Madison area, temperatures were in the single digits for the first time this winter. With the windchill, some areas felt like they were -10°.
In all of 2023, Madison had four days where temperatures dipped below 0°. Because of a cold snap last winter, we’ve already had 7 days of subzero temperatures in 2024.
This kind of cold can be dangerous for anybody, including those experiencing homelessness. Warming stations opened across Wisconsin Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
In Madison, Porchlight and both Salvation Army shelters were ready to receive more people.
