Oshkosh West students get top scores on ACT
OSHKOSH, Wis (WISS) – One Oshkosh West High School junior did what only a quarter of a percent of American students do each year. Roman Stanuch scored a perfect score of 36 on his ACT.
Two of his classmates, Aria Boehler and Samuel Kuerschner, each earned an impressive score of 35. All are outstanding academic achievements and place the students among the top nationwide.
The Oshkosh Area School District announced the top ACT performances of its students in a press release on Wednesday.
A Perfect Score
“It feels great to see that all the effort I put into studying paid off,” stated Roman Stanuch, who credited his success to “the hours spent practicing with resources like the pre-ACTs, PSAT, Xello, and the ACT Red Book.”
Describing his initial reaction, Stanuch shared, “I was very surprised when I saw my score. I didn’t believe I had gotten that score until I refreshed the page a few times.”

Stanuch, an active Oshkosh West Math Team member, highlighted its role in his success. “My participation in the Math Team helped me perform so well on the ACT because it promotes the critical thinking and application of knowledge found in all four sections of the ACT,” he noted.
Looking to the future, Stanuch plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in computer science at a university. He dreams of becoming a software developer at Pixar, and he plans to apply to Stanford and UW-Madison.
“We are incredibly proud of Roman’s perfect score, and of Aria and Samuel’s outstanding achievements on the ACT,” said Oshkosh West Principal Becky Montour. “These results are a powerful testament to their individual dedication and the inspiring work ethic we see in our students. They also reflect the unwavering commitment of our educators. We celebrate these individual successes as a reflection of the strong academic foundations being built across our district.”
