BLAZE free summer camp gets girls & nonbinary teens into construction fields
The free camp is meant to get more diversity into heavily male-dominated fields.
MADISON, Wis. (WMDX) — A free summer camp will give girls and nonbinary teens experience in the trades, in typically male-dominated fields.
BLAZE: Girl Trailblazers in the Trades is Monday, July 15 to Friday, July 19 at the McKenzie Regional Workforce Center.
It’s hosted by the Madison Area Builders Association and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County.
Students will get to experience working in carpentry, heavy machinery, interior design, electrical, siding, roofing and architecture. They’ll even build two sheds that will later be auctioned off to fund future programs.
The camp is free, but signup is required. To register, click here.
