MADISON, Wis. — A Dane County company will lay off hundreds of people.
WPS Health Solutions is headquartered in Monona, at a building just off the Beltline. The company provides supplemental insurance for people here in Wisconsin, and has Medicare contracts in nine states.
In total, 313 people will lose their jobs. Most of them will be at that main office. Ten are at another Madison location.
Executives said the layoffs are necessary after losing federal contracts.
The layoffs officially begin January 21. That’s according to notices from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
