Authorities will be patrolling for impaired drivers in December. Last year, 186 people died in impaired driving crashes across Wisconsin.
MADISON, Wis. (WMDX) – Law enforcement will be adding patrols all December, both on the local and state level.
The December Law of the Month from the state Department of Transportation is to drive sober.
On average, someone is hurt or killed in an impaired driving crash every two hours in Wisconsin. In 2023, there were more than 7,700 impaired driving crashes. 186 people died.
Meanwhile, Madison Police and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office will be increasing their efforts all month as well. They’ll be focusing on impaired driving, bicyclist and pedestrian safety, speeding, and seat belt laws.
The money for these added patrols comes from a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
