South Wood County Empty Bowls Event Scheduled

The 11th South Wood County Empty Bowls event will be held
Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the new FOCUS location, 2321 West Grand Avenue Wisconsin Rapids, according to Mary Schultz, committee chair. This is the fourth year that the FOCUS organization has led the efforts to organize the event in South Wood County.

Schultz commented, “2023 was the first time we sponsored Empty Bowls in person. Over the past couple of years, we have made improvements to the flow of traffic within the building and our overall processes. We worked with 12 local restaurants that have agreed to generously donate a very nice selection of soups for our guests. And, we have obtained numerous hand-pottered bowls that guests will be able to
choose from as part of their $10 donation to participate. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us!”

The local restaurants that are participating in the event include: Anchor Bay Bar & Grill, Chat-R-Box Catering, Danny K’s Pub & Grill, Grace’s Family Restaurant, Great Expectations, Hoozles Bar, Jennings & Co., Junkyard Bar & Grill, Olympic II Family Restaurant, Pancakes & Burgers, Purple Basil and Sportsmen’s Pub & Grille.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include basket raffles with products and services donated by businesses in the community.

In return for a donation of $10, guests will receive a simple meal of soup, a homemade dinner roll, beverage and a cookie. A handmade bowl, crafted by a local potter or pottery student, will be given as thanks for the support. Proceeds will be used to purchase food to help those with food insecurities in the South Wood County area.
