WAUSAU, Wis. (WXCO) – Spring elections and significant delays, more time given for residents to cast their ballots after a court order issues extension.

On Tuesday afternoon, the deadline to vote was moved to 9 p.m. in the Village of Kronenwetter.

“Extending polling hours by one hour ensures that every eligible Kronenwetter resident has the opportunity to cast their ballot.” said County Clerk Kim Trueblood in a village press release.

Officials say they switched to paper poll books at 10 a.m. on election day, after technology issues were causing significant delays.

Voters that had tried to cast their vote in the morning, were leaving from the long wait times.

The cause of the issue is unknown. Clerks Trueblood and Poyer will work with the Wisconsin Elections Commission to find out more.

Polling places in all other Marathon County municipalities will close at 8:00 p.m. in accordance with Wisconsin election law.
