WISCONSIN (CIVIC MEDIA) – The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) released the 2024-25 school and district accountability report cards on Tuesday.

According to a Wisconsin DPI news release, the annual report cards evaluate schools and districts in four categories – Achievement, Growth, Target Group Outcomes, and On-Track to Graduation. Based on those metrics, each school and district receives one of the following overall accountability scores:

  • Fails to Meet Expectations (one star)
  • Meets Few Expectations (two stars)
  • Meets Expectations (three stars)
  • Exceeds Expectations (four stars)
  • Significantly Exceeds Expectations (five stars)

Of the 378 public school districts that received report cards, 94 percent met, exceeded, or significantly exceeded expectations. In regard to public schools, 1,920 received a report card from the state DPI, and 85 percent of those schools met, exceeded, or significantly exceeded expectations.

Out of the 436 private schools that take part in a Private School Choice Program, 85 percent of them met, exceeded, or significantly exceeded expectations. 247 private schools were not scored due to insufficient data.

Changes were made to the 2024-25 school and district accountability report cards after 26 educators held a meeting in the summer. The group met to review data and discuss updates to the performance benchmarks used to determine overall accountability ratings. The state superintendent implemented the educators’ recommendations following the meeting. Additional information on the most recent report card changes can be found at the Wisconsin DPI website.

You can find your or school or school district’s 2024-25 report card at the Wisconsin DPI School and District Report Card Portal.
