The coldest temperatures of this winter thus far arrive Thursday night and last into the weekend.

The WRCO listening area will be in an Extreme Cold Watch from late Thursday night through Saturday morning. The National Weather Service says to take this cold spell seriously.

Wind chills during the early morning hours Friday and Saturday could fall to -30 to -45, leading to frostbite on unprotected skin in less than 10 minutes. While exact wind chill values could still fluctuate, it will nevertheless be very cold to end the week. Prepare to dress in layers, cover all exposed skin, limit your time outdoors, and bring your pets inside. Those with outdoor plans are encouraged to evaluate and possibly postpone these activities.
