Gov. Tony Evers is hitting the road this week to celebrate June Dairy Month, with visits to a Waukesha frozen custard shop and a Kaukauna dairy farm Tuesday as the first stops on a statewide tour honoring Wisconsin’s dairy industry.

Evers will be joined by Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Secretary Randy Romanski for both stops. The tour is designed to thank dairy farmers, producers and processors across the state while highlighting the Evers administration’s efforts to support Wisconsin’s agricultural sector over the past seven years.

The governor will first visit Oscar’s Frozen Custard in Waukesha at noon, followed by a 3 p.m. stop at Seven Oaks Dairy in Kaukauna.

Wisconsin’s dairy industry is a cornerstone of the state’s economy and cultural identity. According to DATCP, the state is home to approximately 1.3 million dairy cows and more than 5,000 dairy farms — more than any other state in the nation. The industry contributes an estimated $52.8 billion annually to Wisconsin’s economy.

Since taking office in 2019, Evers has directed investments toward meat and dairy producers, farmer mental health resources and efforts to expand Wisconsin’s agricultural exports. The governor has described the state’s more than $116 billion agricultural industry as essential not only to Wisconsin’s economy but to its heritage and long-term future.

Additional stops on the Dairy Month tour are expected to be announced in the coming days.
