MADISON, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) will serve over three million meals to kids this summer through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).

A news release from the Wisconsin DPI describes the SFSP as an initiative that provides healthy, free meals to children and teens in low-income areas. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and it’s an extension of the National School Lunch Program.

Distribution sites are located in areas where at least 50 percent of households meet or are below 185 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. Residents over the age of 18 who are involved in school disability programs may qualify.

For an up-to-date list of participating SFSP sites, visit the Wisconsin DPI website.
